I agree with this article on the repeal of the US military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy: “militarism and war profiteering do not serve the interests of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people, or poor people, or people of color.” Much of mainstream gay-rights activism, unfortunately, is deeply conservative in that it tends to view military service and legal marriage as solutions to, rather than sources of, oppression.
